The practice of mindfulness helps you to separate yourself from your thoughts or your constant mind chatter, allowing you to become more in tune with your body and each moment you experience. This focused attention helps you in relationships, to deal with stress, in your work life and in general day to day living.
Jon Kabat-Zinn, who’s often referred to as the pioneer and master of secular mindfulness, defines it as “the awareness that arises from paying attention, on purpose, in the present moment and non-judgmentally”. This feels like a mouthful, but ultimately the way I define it and the key idea is in the cultivation of non-judgmental awareness in life. As I mention above, mindfulness is not a thing you do–rather, it becomes a way of life. Before I start spruiking all the benefits of mindfulness and how it’s changed my life, I want to mention a little side note–an important side note, nonetheless.
You are not alone in thinking that mindfulness and or meditation feel hard, challenging or tricky to start and keep doing. So many people I meet believe this: that they just can’t sit still for that long or can’t get their mind to quit its constant chatter, or just can’t! And then that becomes the end of the story.
My approach acknowledges this is a reality for many, and so I am here to let you know that you are allowed to release all your ideas of what you think you should be doing and break the rules! That’s right, my sessions are about making this divine practice accessible to everyone and helping you to make it become a practice that you can easily incorporate into your life.
According to research, and most recently quoted on Beyond Blue: “While mindfulness techniques like meditation have been around for thousands of years, it’s only in recent times that scientists are uncovering the full effect that mindfulness has on our brains. One of the biggest discoveries has been the process called neuroplasticity. This explains how the brain can change, literally change, from lived experiences. In simple terms, mindfulness strengthens the good parts of your brain and helps calm the parts that stress you out.”

Not only does mindfulness meditation help you with all of the above, but it has been classified as one of the top four ways–alongside sleep, exercise and eating well–to live a healthy, happy and fulfilled life. However, despite its countless benefits, mindfulness isn’t very well understood and often mistaken as purely being the practice of meditation. Like I mentioned above though – mindfulness is so much more, it’s a way of life.
So, let me answer for you:
What exactly happens during a Mindfulness Session?
I focus on really easy to implement, tangible and transferable techniques of mindfulness, meditation and light yoga in my mindfulness sessions. You will feel safe in the space I hold for you, one without any pretences or judgements, I aim to cultivate a space where you can be completely comfortable to be a newbie or an expert. Where you can just be uniquely you and feel as if you’re meeting up with an old friend.
During the session, we move through some grounding breathwork, a mini workshopping of a component of mindfulness (this will vary from session to session, or for individual sessions, the topic can be at your request – see below for topics ). And then onto some light flow – cue – no worries if you can’t touch your toes! Finally wrapping up with a short, guided mediation.
**Please note, the yoga (flow) component is only available for the in-person Sunrise Beach Mindfulness sessions. See below for more details.

Either in the comfort of your own home for private personalised sessions or at Wamberal Beach on the Central Coast of New South Wales for the sunrise sessions. Wambi (as it is referred to by the locals) is away from the crowds, it is a local’s beach. Yet it is close enough to walk to from the popular spot to stay in Terrigal and only a short drive from other popular spots on the Central Coast.
Settle into the session with the peaceful backdrop of Wamberal Lagoon and its birdlife, the dunes and the powerful crash of the nearby waves. The only other activity will be from locals walking their pup’s, surfers heading out or the dolphins dancing at sunrise. We meet just before sunrise each day on the beach in front of the Wamberal Surf Life Saving Club.
If you answer yes to any of the below questions, you need to join me for a sunrise beach mindfulness session on the Central Coast held at Wamberal Beach, NSW.
